Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi met when they were both eighteen in the Isle of Man where they both lived. They began with a small boutique in London's Portobello in 1996, selling the first Preen (the name winks at excessive self-love) clothes by recycling British elements like Victoriana and Brit pop. The duo has become known for 'clean, fluid lines and slouchy-futuristic elegance'. "It's always been about this kind of masculine and feminine, light and soft, fusing and putting together," Thornton says. "I think that's a key thing, but it's developed into a more streamlined, more grown-up aesthetic in our work."
