It's posh, it's English and it combines 'the craft of the countryside with the cool of the city'. Mulberry was founded in 1971 by Roger Saul who built the brand on fine leather items and named it after the Mulberry tree that he walked past each day in the grounds of his school. Saul was ousted by a hostile takeover after 34 years and it has been stormy waters for the brand ever since, including a failed attempt to enter the painfully expensive super-brands league. The label has now successfully returned to 'reasonably affordable luxury' and an 'upbeat mood. Mulberry is in between creative directors at the moment.
