“The youthfulness in my collection is in its sense of humour,” Marc Jacobs (1963) says of more affordable, street-centric Marc by Marc Jacobs, launched in 2000. It offers ready-to-wear and accessories, all 'studiously dishevelled'. Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier are Design Director and Creative Director respectively. “It’s about being playful again, even boyish, and having lots of disparate influences,” Bartley says “The charm of Marc girl is that doesn’t buy a head-to-toe designer look, so we can’t design in that way. Basically, I’m thinking about how we would dress, as opposed to putting a collection together.”
