When still in college Scotland, neon and eighties lover Christopher Kane (1982) already won his first fashion awards and fans in Donatella Versace and Anna Wintour. He launched his namesake label in 2006; sister Tammy runs the financial side of the business, now for 51% owned by Kering. "Tammy and I work so fast and get bored so easily,” he says. “She tries things on, we like them and get excited. Or we don’t and put them in the back for later. Or never." Kane's trademarks are mixing hard and soft fabrics, ruffles and embellishments, and pop referencing his collections: "I like the idea of making ugly pretty."
